HIP Modalities

At DESY we create a modality database along with a list of contact partners as a basis for the community to contact experts and engage in collaborations. Furthermore we collect and provide benchmark datasets for different modalities and algorithms. The service unit at DESY is the first contact for the HIP projects for support.

We specialise in inverse-problem solvers and their efficient implementation on various HPC infrastructures. In particular, novel AI-based solvers will enable scientists to make educated decisions during an experiment, thus avoiding the acquisition of unusable data sets and the waste of resources.

Our team has expertise in a range of scientific imaging disciplines from macromolecular structural biology, to satellite imaging, to the development of novel video codecs.

Our current research projects include the development of AI methods for multimodal multitask semantic segmentation, as well as for instance segmentation for biomedical and material science research projects.
